PLE Investigator

Hello everybody,
this section is said to be the last non-topic related topic on my blog. From then on, there are only topics related to the doctorate that are addressed. Be excited!

First I want to answer the following questions:
  • ¿Qué redes sociales puedo utilizar para investigate?
This question can not be answered generally. If I can redirect this question to my topic of the doctorate, there are several possibilities. At the beginning of my doctorate, I used the Facebook website to discuss and discuss suggestions, ideas and problems within a group called "Freediving Science". At the same time, I provided a survey to specifically target this small fringe group of freedivers. I used another social media channel through a company that enabled me to use your email distribution list in order to reach free divers. There were also portals such as Researchgate with the subscription of scientists who also research in my area as well as via networks such as Xing, Linkedin and others. Forums in a general approach are also a good approach to get opinions and other things related to the topic.
  • ¿Cómo puedo aprovechar el uso de estas redes sociales dentro de mi ámbito de conocimiento?
The use of social media offers a whole range of possibilities. So I use them to get suggestions, feedback, and suggestions for improvement. Last but not least also to acquire new encouragement and perseverance in dry spells when you see that the topic arouses wide interest.
  • ¿Cuál es tu opinión acerca de los servicios de redes sociales para el investigador 2.0?
Such services can be helpful additions and support at times. They can also be used to make work easier. Most of the applications presented in this course are used and have been extensively used and valued throughout my studies. One or two of the programs convinced me to continue using them in the future. Only Symbaloo did not quite meet my expectations, since I already do such orders completely via Google Chrome and organize other information via Google Drive. The advantage of Symbaloo that I do not want to open up could still come with regular use. However, I am not yet sure whether I should take this risk.

In the following picture you can see very well how I have arranged my individual websites, offers, etc. in order to be able to access them quickly at any time.

Overall, I am satisfied with the course. The presented content was all understandable and logical. The applications presented also made sense and made the relevance of the whole topic even more important to me. Because I come from Germany and have no knowledge of Spanish, some content was not possible to acquire. However, this only occurred with the videos. All of the other documents, instructions, help and tasks I (hopefully) were able to elaborate and present correctly.

Finally, I would like to thank the organizers very much for the course and wish everyone a healthy and good time this year!

Best regards,
Benjamin Bube

Google, Google Services and more

Today I would like to introduce you to the various functions I use that are offered by Google.

I have currently used the following Google Drive functions for my promotion and will continue to use them:
- Google Docs
- Google Sheets
- Google slides
- Google Forms
- diagram

Since my Google Drive contains confidential data, I would just like to show you a small excerpt.

Nevertheless, I would like to introduce an interesting aspect to you instead: Version History in Google Sheets.

If you have deleted something and you only notice this error after a few days, you can easily restore your important data using the following point:

On the screenshot on the right, each of the previously performed actions can be analyzed and evaluated very well.

In the end, I would like to answer a few questions:

  1. ¿Pueden ser útiles las herramientas de Google (Google Apps) para llevar a cabo nuestra labor investigadora?
Google Apps are ideal for carrying out work of any nature quickly, efficiently and from anywhere without your own device. Ultimately, this is also one of the reasons why I started using Google in 2013 and will continue to use it. If various services such as Google Forms are used in the course of the promotion, the yield can be maximized. So I already used Google Forms at the beginning of the year for a survey comprising around 30 questions and was able to distribute this survey easily via the Internet with various services.
  2. ¿Permite Google Drive trabajar de forma colaborativa?
In order to share and edit different drafts with other fellow students or professors at the same time, Google was also preferred to all other options. This decision was made not least because Google is much better known, has better usability and user experience as well as it is free of charge.
  3. Well, here we have a short survey: https://forms.gle/qs5jJuQGzyvg5SWJA
That should have been it for today. If you liked the post, comment and share it!

Content Curation

Dear readers, it was originally planned to use this blog exclusively for the content of the promotion. In this case, I would like to make an exception. For different areas of my doctorate, I use the options presented below to be better organized:

Feedly and Diigo.

Curating content is a very easy way to get up-to-date information about your favorite websites directly on your computer or on an online website without having to visit them individually.

Feedly is a content aggregator for web browsers and mobile devices. It also collects messages from user-selected sources that you can personalize and share later. On the other hand, you can use this tool to organize the content as if it were a digital magazine.

So that you can get a better picture, I have attached a screenshot:

Diigo is a personal information management system, which also has many applications such as creating groups (public or private) to share favorite links.

Furthermore, this web service gives us the opportunity to save any desired address online. All of this is classified by a simple label system. In the following picture you can see my profile of Diigo:

It should be noted that Feedly and Diigo have a number of other functions. I tried it but did not add it because the content was not relevant to my doctorate.
